OLED display generally provide better visual clarity and flexibility over the size too. The one here is a 0.96″ OLED Display Module with display Blue in Color. It has a resolution of 128x64. These displays are controlled by SSD1306 which is a 128 x 64 Dot Matrix OLED/PLED Segment/Common Driver along with a Controller.

This display uses I2C protocol for data transfer with the interfaced MCU. The advantages of incorporating these displays in system over conventional displays are it’s compact size, better resolution and uses only 4-wire interface.

The built-in libraries for the same in Arduino IDE makes it more convenient for the user to interface them with any Arduino. They can be used in various systems wherein continuous visual monitoring of data obtained from different peripherals is required.

For example, in case of system where it is required to observe sensor readings over different condition to decide the threshold value or to view data received serially from any communicating modules in system these displays can be used. Using the I2C protocol the display can even be used for similar application along with Raspberry Pi.
